Position Purpose

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Casual IT Desktop Support Technician to provide remote technical support and system administration for our organization. This role will focus on managing day-to-day IT support requests, administering systems and applications, and ensuring continuity of IT services. The position will also provide vacation coverage for full-time IT staff, requiring flexibility and strong independent problem-solving skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide remote help desk support to employees, resolving hardware, software, and network access issues.
  • Administer and manage user accounts, email, and permissions across core systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, HRIS, and other business applications).
  • Monitor system performance, security alerts, and backups, escalating issues as required.
  • Assist with system updates, patch management, and technology rollouts.
  • Maintain IT documentation, including troubleshooting procedures and system configurations.
  • Ensure IT security protocols and policies are consistently applied across the organization.
  • Provide vacation coverage for IT staff, ensuring uninterrupted IT support and system administration during absences.
  • Provide support for IT projects

Knowledge and Skills

  • Previous experience in IT support and system administration (Windows, Microsoft 365, and cloud-based applications).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices and system administration principles.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills for supporting staff at all levels.
  • Flexibility to provide coverage during scheduled staff vacations.

Working Conditions

  • Schedule: Part-time, remote position (approx. 8–15 hours per week, with additional hours during vacation coverage).
