Position Purpose

Overall duty of this position is to take a leadership role in expanding our business across Eastern Canada. This key position is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing strategic sales and marketing plans for both existing and new business lines. The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth by managing relationships with key stakeholders, identifying new business opportunities, and working closely with Regional and Operations Managers to ensure the company’s goals and objectives are met.

 

Due to the nature of this position there will be some on-call and overtime requirements as well as some travel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the execution of comprehensive sales strategies tailored to the Eastern Canadian market, ensuring alignment with national objectives and business growth targets.
  • Consistently meet or exceed revenue targets by identifying new opportunities, expanding relationships with current clients, and working with cross-functional teams to optimize product offerings and marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure two points of contact are always maintained with key clients.
  • Conduct research into and analysis of standard business development elements such as competition (services, pricing, failures, etc.), technological developments, market trends, and economic conditions to identify business risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in the coordination of the completion of internal PAPs, and external RFIs, RFPs, and bid documents to ensure timely, accurate and high-quality submissions.
  • Assist in maintaining effective communications between business development, support services and operations teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Act as the primary point of contact for customers across Eastern Canada, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and addressing any concerns in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate transfer of new technologies or best practices between different Canadian and international Applus regions by staying up to date on new developments, identifying potential applications and clients, and coordinating internal and client education sessions.
  • Collaborate with operations and finance teams to develop national and regional pricing strategies.
  • Assist regional and divisional management in developing annual business plans, as well as with revenue budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Regularly track and report on sales performance, including pipeline management, forecasts, and progress toward sales goals. Provide insights and recommendations to improve outcomes and respond to market changes.
  • Interface with NOAM and global business development representatives to identify cross-regional opportunities and strategies.
  • Adherers to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Applus Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

  • Industry-leading awareness of new developments in technology and market opportunities.
  • Able to maintain an extensive and current network of relevant customer and technical contacts throughout Canada and North America.
  • Effective coach and mentor; assists in developing skills and abilities of colleagues and staff.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, specifically Excel, and other software applications.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field is strongly recommended.
  • Minimum of five years business development and/or operational experience in NDT with a strong client service background.
  • Equivalent industry experience combined with other formal training and accreditations may be accepted.

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work inside an office environment, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The work is primarily sedentary.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Work outside of normal business hours will be occasionally required.
  • Overtime required during the week and weekend with work volume.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedules and respond to requests without advance warning or notification.
  • Occasional to frequent travel will be required within Canada.
